Some things must come to an end, but it's the words left unsaid that can hurt the most...

Backstory

The Words I've Never Said is based on a roleplay a friend and I wrote many years ago (with a few changes made). This would be considered a prequel to that story we made together.

I'm very new to game development so there's some glitches and things I just couldn't fix. This is my first game jam and I don't have any resources but good old Google and Youtube to suss out potential fixes so, sorry if anything breaks.

I recommend downloading the game rather than playing in browser.

This is so heartbreaking! I love the variety of dialogue options and bits of worldbuilding (would love to visit the Singing Oceans and Fractured Peaks).

Appreciate the tongue-in-cheek lines and the sound effects work so well too! Can't wait to see what you come up with next!

HOW are you new to game dev? This is so good-looking. Gorgeous art (nice use of warm light and cool shadows), slick and well-implemented interface, and a very holistic look-and-feel. That moving light does a great job creating a sense of motion. And that ending. I look forward to what you make next!

(Since you mention there were some glitches you were having trouble with, are the boxes around the letters one of them? In TextMeshPro that's usually because you made your font atlas too large. Just ignore me if this is unwanted/unnecessary advice.)

I've been doing it for a few months now, working on a larger project. I'm originally a web designer so makes sense the interface is good. Thank you so much for giving such nice compliments.

Also thank you so much for the advice I'll check with my TextMeshPro font atlas!

Hey! I played the game and GOSH the ending punched my guts so hard I'm in a fetal position on the floor (ok not literally but that's how I'm feeling)!

The game is also very good-looking, both in terms of GUI (I loved the GUI animation) and the art! It is very well-put together.

Congrats on a well-done job!! You mention being new to game development, is it your first game? Because, if so, well, DAMN??????????????

Oh! Thanks so much for such a nice compliment. It is my first fully finished game yeah :) I've been working on a larger game very slowly for the last few months so there will be more incoming I'm sure!

Loved it! What a simple idea very expertly executed!

Polished & immersive presentation, with an intriguing story ✨ fantastic entry!

thanks so much! I worked hard to get the overlay work well in context. I’m happy it came across well.
